Life has been full of ups, downs, twists, and turns the last 7 months! Darren and I have each struggled (and continue to, depending on the day) with some post-baby anxiety, fueled by the ever-present post-baby sleep deprivation, but overall things have been going well! I'm back at work full-time and Darren is a full-time stay-at-home dad to our little "Squish," who is growing like a weed. Or, actually, like a baby. Imagine that. Squish is almost 8 months old now, and is getting increasingly more mobile by the day. For a while he would just roll all over the living room, then he graduated to scooting, then pretty quickly figured out the whole crawling thing. It was exciting -- and stressful, with all the babyproofing we suddenly needed to do! -- to watch him learn and develop! We thought we might get a little bit of a break; since he'd figured out crawling, he'd probably stick with that for a while, right? Yeah, not so much. Within a few days of him getting the hang of crawling, he started to pull himself up on the furniture to stand!

One of Squish's favorite things on the planet is food. He will eat anything you give him -- or anything within his reach! He loves his Puff snacks and gets VERY impatient if you dare slow down when spoon-feeding him. Which he also would rather do himself.
I recently held a neighbor's newborn baby boy, and I couldn't believe how tiny he was -- and how BIG Squish had gotten! It sounds so cliche but it's true -- it goes by so fast! I can't believe he's already closer to his 1st birthday than he is to his, well, birth day.
We've had a lot of great adventures together as a little family of 3 this Summer. We've been to southern Utah to visit Darren's family and to California (twice!) to visit my family, and soon we'll get to experience Disneyland with a kid of our own. Hopefully that will go well. By his first birthday, Squish will be a fairly well traveled little dude!
Earlier this month, we got together with all of Darren's family for a reunion/anniversary/birthday celebration. It was so nice to see all his family and spend time together. We also got family pictures taken as part of the get-together.
Didn't they turn out so cute?! My friend Bailey did them, and you can check out her other work here.
In other exciting news, we bought a house! We have been saving and planning and dreaming about it for a while, so it seems weird that it's now a reality -- we bought a house! It's not too far from where we are now, and it cuts my (oh so long, 10-minute) commute in half, which is fantastic. It's close to family and in a quiet little neighborhood, and we are so excited about it! We move in a few weeks; maybe it will seem more real then?
